Unique opera at Slovak National Theatre

The Slovak National Theatre opens a unique project, Thursday, March 9. The world premiere of the baroque piece Arsilda, by Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi, was presented in Bratislava in co-operation with Grand Theatre de Luxembourg, Opéra Royal de Versailles, Opéra de Lille and Théâtre de Caen. The music will be performed by Collegium 1704, a Prague based Czech orchestra playing period instruments. This is first ever baroque opera in Slovakia played by period instruments with singers specialised in baroque singing. Moreover, the Bratislava staging presents Vivaldi's Arsilda in its original version that has never been brought on stage. It will be presented also on March 12 as part of the Days of early music festival and will return to Bratislava in the season 2019/2020.
