Emmanuel Villaume, the ex-principal conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic, promised to present the majority of Gustav Mahler's symphonies during his mission in Bratislava. He, however, stepped down from the post sooner than he was expected in 2016, leaving it with no principal for over a year. In the mid - June 2017, Emmanuel Villaume came back to keep his promise.
