For many, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is mainly associated with lists of places, things and practices that are worth seeing and visiting. Places and things of an exceptional historic and cultural value. However, not many people know that thanks to UNESCO, contemporary culture in different national settings can also develop further and bloom. To explain this role of UNESCO, Zuzana Botiková spoke to Mr. Charles Vallerand from Canada, who was expertly involved with UNESCO on the protection and promotion of the diversity of cultural expression.
