Slovak jazz mega star turns 75

Slovak jazzman star Peter Lipa turned 75 on May 30, 2018. The singer and long-term promoter of jazz music in Slovakia was born in the eastern Slovak town of Prešov. He started his career as an editor in the Slovak Radio. His love for jazz made him become the face of this genre in Slovakia. Since 1989, he has been the president of the Slovak jazz society and a member of the International jury deciding on the European jazz prize. For Slovak audiences, he has also been renowned for running the Bratislava jazz days festival, the event that brought international and overseas stars to the capital of this once socialist block country.
