Martin Benka in Slovak National Museum

The Slovak National Museum in co-operation with the Martin Benka Museum in Martin opened a representative exhibition of works by the highly praised Slovak painter of the 20th century Martin Benka. His large scale paintings of the Slovak landscape depicting activities of the inhabitants of rural parts of the country represent the key stone of the national myth of hardworking Slovaks in an idyllic environment. On the occasion of the 130 birth anniversary, the museum presents a considerable part of its collection of Martin Benka's works including also illustrations or fonts of letters. They can be seen at Bratislava castle until December 2019.
