Since Monday, the 8th of October, until Friday, the 12th of October, the Bienale of Animation Bratislava festival has been taking place in the Slovak capital. The presentation of animated films for children is focused on non-commercial culture for the youngest audience.
The international competition saw entries of 280 programmes from 50 countries including projects from public TV broadcasters from the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Japan and Slovakia. 82 of them were selected into the main section.
The bienale is also featuring a special screening of films for children from the Annecy international animated film festival, a masterclass of an Oscar awardee Michael Dudok de Witt from the Netherlands and an exhibition presenting the art of Japanese animation as well as an exhibition of original works by animators , both on display in BIBIBANA, the International House of Art for Children.
