Bratislava mill among top 40 European buildings

The jury of the European Union prize for contemporary architecture, known as the EU Mies Award, has selected the Bratislava mill out of 400 projects vying for the top 40 European buildings of 2019. It has thus become the first-ever Slovak building that was shortlisted for this prize. Built in 1960's, the plant produced cement bricks until 1992. The house, of a pure architectonic quality, has recently been reconstructed by a Slovak-Austrian investor with the aim of securing as much of the original construction as possible, and making the most of its use. Today, it houses co-working, cultural and social event facilities, as well as apartments. The biannual EU Mies Award will be handed to one of the five finalists in May.
