Publisher Donald Rayfield on Slovak literature and more

The British monthly 'Literary Review' presented a piece on Slovak literature in its October 2019 issue. Publisher Donald Rayfield reviewed books by Balla and Ivana Dobrakovová that were released in translation in the British market exactly in October 2019. "No nation in Europe today is as good at self-deprecation as the Slovaks," he claims, adding that Slovaks "claim to be the victims of a modern kleptocracy, helplessly enthralled by psychotherapy, alcohol, European mercantilism and a depraved pop culture." In the October 2019, it will be possible to meet authors, Balla and Ivana Dobrakovová, as well as Uršuľa Kovalyk in a series of public readings held over four days from 22nd to 25th October, in Manchester, Oxford, Cambridge and London respectively. Radio Slovakia International spoke to Donald Rayfield in June 2019.
