Karen Henderson: Brexit will be a headache for Slovakia’s EU presidency

On June 23rd Brits will decide in a referendum if their country leaves or stays in the European Union. Apart from the fact that there are about 80,000 Slovak citizens working in Britain who do not know what an eventual Brexit would mean for them and their families back home in Slovakia, mostly in its poorer Eastern regions, the referendum is also a test for Slovak diplomacy. Slovakia takes the rotating presidency of the European Union on July 1st and an eventual vote in favour of Britain's exit will be the first tough issue to deal with. Anca Dragu discussed these topics with Karen Henderson, a political scientist lecturing at the Institute of European Studies and International Relations of the Comenius University in Bratislava. She will vote in favour or Britain staying in the European Union.
