With about 41 civil servants per thousand inhabitants, Slovakia is ranked third in the European Union behind Luxembourg and Hungary when it comes to the size of its public administration. The EU average is about 30 civil servants per thousand inhabitants. According to data from Eurostat, at the end of 2016 approximately 8% of Slovakia's total workforce was employed in public administration. Allegations of nepotism, corruption and strong political interference have affected the image of Slovak public servants for years. But inside this huge body there are a group of people who want to change it and are not afraid to speak their minds. They launched a project called "Dobry uradnik", or the Good Civil Servant in English and Anca Dragu spoke to one of them.
