"The current strengthening of extremist elements in Europe could lead to new totalitarianism," said Slovak Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská on Monday at the opening of a two-day conference of EU Justice Minsters in Bratislava. On Tuesday, the ministers planned to discuss the rise of radicalism in Europe at the occasion of the European Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Totalitarian Regimes. The informal meeting is held as part of the Slovak presidency of the EU Council.
