Slovakia recorded ten first-time asylum applications in the second quarter of this year, which is the lowest number in the EU, reads the report released by Eurostat. Over 300,000 first-time asylum applications were submitted in the EU between April and June, representing an increase by 6% when compared to the first three months of this year. 61% of the applications were recorded in Germany, followed by Italy with less than 9% and France with less than 6%. Apart from Slovakia, a low number of first-time applications was also submitted in Romania, Portugal, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Estonia.
