Slovak patients may begin to use novel Cuban drug in March

Heberprot-P, a novel form of medicine to treat diabetic foot syndrome that Slovakia has secured as part of Cuba's debt repayment, could be administered to patients in Slovakia as early as March, according to Health Minister Tomas Drucker. Drucker signed three contracts with Cuba in late 2016. "The medicine was brought to Slovakia in December. We're now waiting for three experts with experience in the administration of this medication to come to Slovakia within the next two weeks," said the minister adding that the medication comes at zero cost both for Slovak patients and the Slovak health care system.
