The Slovak government expects that the EU Rome Summit due to take place on March 25 will serve as a reflection of the EU's future. Slovakia's delegation to the summit will be headed by Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD). The summit, which will mark the 60th anniversary since the Treaties of Rome were signed, is intended to produce a Rome Declaration. "Partly in the context of the dynamic developments occurring worldwide, the leaders should outline a political vision for the EU for the years ahead. The Visegrad Four (V4) countries [Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary] have prepared a joint contribution to the Rome Declaration in an effort to influence its final version," reads the document.
