A total of 1,043,237 automobiles were manufactured in Slovakia in 2016. This represents a year-on-year growth of some 5,000 cars, said Automobile Industry Association representatives at a press conference on Thursday. In April 2017, the ten millionth car rolled off the assembly line, with the officials pointing out that automobile production in Slovakia is still growing. Production figures swelled north of one million cars in both 2015 and 2016, and it is expected that this threshold will be surpassed in 2017 as well. With 192 cars per 1,000 inhabitants, Slovakia maintains a comfortable global lead in the number of manufactured cars per capita.
