Seventeen military personnel injured in vehicle accident

Seventeen professional servicemen suffered injuries when a Tatra 815 military vehicle crashed at the Močiar military facility close to Žiar nad Hronom (Banská Bystrica region) on Thursday afternoon, TASR learnt from Defence Ministry spokesperson Danka Capáková on the same day. The soldiers were air force members of the Slovak Armed Forces. Six of them suffered serious injuries, according to the Defence Ministry. It appears that the vehicle in question toppled over. The injured were rushed to hospital by airlift and ambulances. The case is being looked into by a committee of the chief of general staff and chief of crisis staff plus Defence Ministry State Secretary Marian Salon, as Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš is currently away in Brussels for talks. "It's not possible to provide more detailed information at this stage," said Capáková. The cause of the incident will be investigated by Military Police.
