At Thursday's (18-5) joint meeting of Defence and Interior Ministers at the EU headquarters in Brussels, Slovak Defence Minister, Peter Gajdoš, stated that the quick exchanging of information was critical in the fight against terrorism. The Slovak Minister reminded attendees that it was the first joint meeting of the Union's Interior and Defence Ministers. In the fight against terrorism, he advocated "sharing information and swiftly exchanging it, because it is only in this way that the fight against terrorism can be performed in time." The attending ministers also supported the development of rapid response forces to be more flexible and able to adapt to financial conditions. This category also includes the EU Battle Groups, which have been operating for ten years but have never been used in practice. Defence ministers also agreed to improve military and civilian crisis management.
