President Andrej Kiska granted a pardon to a 34-year-old mother of five who was supposed to go to jail, Kiska posted on a social network on Thursday. The president did so on the condition that she would not commit any crimes next year. The president pointed out that if she was imprisoned, her children would end up in a children's home. Kiska noted that the woman had already served a part of the sentence after she committed an offence while being sentenced for a suspended sentence. She claims she committed the offence unintentionally. "It would be very sad for the children if they lost their mother and had to go into a children's home," wrote Kiska. "One of her children needs special treatment, as a sufferer of autism," stated the president, adding that it was not easy for the mother, as she herself was being treated for multiple sclerosis.
