Film Freedom under Load awarded in Switzerland

Pavol Barabáš's documentary film Freedom under Load won the highest award Diable d'Or in its category World Culture at the International film festival FIFAD in Switzerland. The festival took place between August 5-12 and is among the most important ones of its kind in the world, focusing on alpine films. The documentary portrays the old generation of porters in the High Tatras which is the last place in Europe where this professions still exists. The committee praised the piece precisely because of its topic. "The portering craft is a way to achieve inner peace. Regardless of great exertion or often unfavourable conditions, it is a spiritual experience," stated the adjudicators. This is already the sixteenth award for Freedom under Load. In Slovakia,it was also the most successful film of the Association of Slovak Film Clubs in 2016.
