Slovak PM sees no need for referendum on EU core

11. 09. 2017 14:10

"I don't find it necessary to organise a referendum on whether Slovakia should be in the EU's core or not, i.e. whether it should be part of deeper cooperation in the Union", said Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) on Sunday's political discussions show on television TA3. "I'm not ruling it out, but I don't think there would be a need to do so at the moment," stated Fico. The prime minister views Slovakia's prospects and future as being at the core of the EU, although he wants to see what the further contours of deeper integration should look like. Nevertheless, he wants Slovakia to be there when these decisions are made.
