Most eurofunds will go to Penta-owned hospitals and three state ones

The Health Ministry allocated €65.5 million for the reconstruction of 15 hospitals. More than 20 million will go to six hospitals belonging to the private investment group Penta; a similar sum is allocated to three state-run hospitals with the ones in Poprad and Brezno receiving the biggest slice of the pie, about €7 million each. The rest of the money will go to three hospitals run by self-governing regions, and another three belonging to the private companies Agel and Grafobal. The hospitals can use the money to rebuild buildings, build ER, or buy medical equipment. They could apply for maximum of € 15 million per project. The large faculty and university hospitals did not get any money as they are in debt. The Health Minister points to the fact that € 70 million is being invested this year in faculty and university hospitals in the form of so-called capital spending, and plans to invest similar amounts in subsequent years.
