The Opposition OĽaNO party voices the opinion that active politicians shouldn't run for the post of Constitutional Court judge. OĽaNO MP Veronika Remisova reacted on Monday to information reported by the media that Prime Minister Robert Fico is allegedly considering a bid to become a constitutional judge with the aim of becoming the Constitutional Court chair.
Independent Dennik N daily reported on Friday (February 9) that according to several independent sources from both the coalition and Opposition parties, Fico is thinking about running for the post of Constitutional Court judge. The Prime Minister himself hasn't confirmed the information. "My ambition is, and I have emphasised it several times, to secure for the Smer-SD party a fifth victory in a general election and its place in a government for the fourth time," said Fico.
