The ruling coalition will not ratify the Istanbul convention during the current term. SMER-SD, the Slovak National Party and Most-Híd, however, agreed that they will pass several acts that would protect women against domestic violence. The nationalists, as well as Prime Minister's SMER party, find it a problem that part of the document calls for EU member states to diminish gender stereotypes. Learn more in the Topical Issue.
