The Slovak Republic views targeted missile strikes by US, British and French forces against chemical weapons sites controlled by the Syrian Government as efforts to prevent the further use of chemical weapons against civilians in Syria, the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry said in a reaction to the allies' attack in Syria. "I view the allies' targeted missile strikes in Syria chiefly as a warning and effort to prevent further attacks like this. However, we must make our utmost diplomatic efforts so that we can always prefer peaceful solutions to conflicts rather than military ones," stated Slovak PM Peter Pellegrini. U.S., British and French forces struck Syria with more than 100 missiles in the early morning hours of Saturday in the first coordinated Western strikes against the Syrian Government, targeting what they called chemical weapons sites in retaliation for a poison gas attack.
