Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) praised the work of European Commission (EC) Vice-president for Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič, who will not be the leader of the Party of European Socialists (PES) in the elections to the European Parliament, TASR learnt on Tuesday. According to Pellegrini, Šefčovič has done much not only for the EU but also for Slovakia. "Unlike others, Šefčovič hasn't forgotten where he came from. He has defended Slovakia's interests always and everywhere. Even though he has been a senior official for many years in Brussels, he's still defending and standing up for Slovakia, and I firmly believe that he will continue to do so," he said.
