Wednesday's ruling by the Bratislava II District Court, which found the controversial entrepreneur Ladislav B. guilty of tax evasion and sentenced him to five years in prison, stirred up debate in political circles. The Interior Minister Denisa Saková acknowledges the court's ruling; however, she adds that as it has already been appealed against, the verdict is not yet valid. "I'd like to thank the police officers and prosecutors who have worked on this case," Saková wrote on Facebook, adding that this was another case intensively reported on by the media that had been investigated by the police. As investigative journalists pointed out, Ladislav B. had close business ties with the former Interior minister Robert Kaliňák. The entrepreneur's sentence is a source of satisfaction for the Opposition party Freedom and Solidarity. Their representatives stated on Wednesday that constant pressure on the law-enforcement authorities and encouraging the public to fight for justice is meaningful.
