The Slovak MEP Ivan Štefanec was elected to lead the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Europe (SME Europe) at the Europeans People´s Party session in Helsinki on Thursday. SME is a platform through which the European Christian democrats and conservatives want to support the development of the business environment in EU member countries. In an interview for the TASR news agency, Štefanec also noted that he was excited about the opportunity to influence the future of the European digital economy. In addition, the Slovak MEPs supported the interim EPP leader Manfred Weber in the vote for the EPPs leadership.
