Almost 68,000 foreigners can vote on Saturday

Almost 68,000 foreigners who are over 18 years old and have permanent residency in Slovakia can vote in the local elections to be held on Saturday. The largest group of foreigners, an estimated 18,800 people, will cast their ballot in the capital city Bratislava. Foreigners do not need to register in order to vote, their name is automatically placed on the list based on their permanent address and will have their identity checked on location via their residence card. Voters in Bratislava and Košice cast four ballots at once: one for the mayor of the city, one for the members of the city council, one for the mayor of the borough and one for the members of the borough's council. The maximum number of candidates for these two councils that a voter can choose is written on the ballot. Voters circle the number near the name of the candidate they want to vote for. Polling stations will be open between 7am and 10pm local time.
