The Slovak Ministry of Transport has signed with the European Investment Bank a loan amounting to €319.6 million to co-finance transport projects. These funds can be used for modernising the railway line from Bratislava to the state border with the Czech Republic, modernising the Žilina railway hub, constructing a tramline further in Bratislava's borough of Petržalka and building a new bridge over the Danube River in Komárno (Nitra region). According to the Transport Ministry, the state must contribute a minimum of 15 percent towards each project funded via this loan.
