A special Parliamentary session dedicated to the Opposition's attempt to oust Chairman Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party/SNS) has been set for Wednesday morning, January 30. The Opposition wants to oust Danko over his final thesis, which it maintains was plagiarised. However, the session probably won't take place, as Danko has said that its agenda will likely not be approved. MP Lucia Ďuriš Nicholsonová (Freedom and Solidarity/SaS) stated last week that she hopes "the coalition will find enough decency and courage to approve the agenda," adding that Danko has no business heading Parliament and should step down. In response, Danko's Slovak National Party issued a statement characterising the opposition's initiative as a "circus-like performance" and repeating its denial that the thesis was plagiarised.
