An official moratorium on all campaigning has come into effect as of 7 a.m. on Thursday, thus marking the end of the presidential election campaign. The moratorium will be in place for 48 hours. In addition, all activities promoting candidates will be prohibited on election day (Saturday, 16 March). Publishing or broadcasting information about candidates is prohibited during the moratorium. A second round of voting is scheduled to take place on 30 March, and a second moratorium on 28 March, if no candidate is elected in the first round. According to the Statistics Office, approximately 4.45 million people are eligible to vote in the election. This figure doesn't include Slovaks living abroad, who are eligible but must travel to Slovakia if they wish to vote on election day.
