The prices of real estate rose by 5.2% on average in 2018 compared to 2017 indicate the statistics of the National Bank of Slovakia. A square metre of real estate was sold at an average price of €1,431. The most significant price increase occurred in the last quarter of last year, when real estate prices increased year-on-year by 7.6% and reached €1,463 per square metre. According to the Poštová Banka's analytical team Slovaks "paid the most per square metre last year for flats with a smaller area, namely studio flats (€1,956) and one-bedroom flats (€1,828). The cheapest were two-bedroom flats, where the square metre averaged €1,625 in the past year.
As Jana Glasová of the Poštová Banka said, the rise in real estate prices is currently being driven by favourable conditions for purchasing real estate, including declining unemployment, rising salaries and low interest rates on credit products.
