Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) said he intends to lead the Finance Ministry until April 26. According to him by that time the coalition should have found a consensus on a way of carrying out social measures that would not disrupt the state budget. "I'll do my best to ensure that the new Finance Minister Ladislav Kamenický (Smer-SD) can deal with the legislative solutions of agreed measures and other topics falling under his responsibility," said Pellegrini. Former Finance Minister Peter Kažimír left the post last week.
Pellegrini thinks that the coalition should agree on the implementation of social packages and their transformation into laws in the next two weeks. "Somehow we're being pushed by time, only two parliamentary sessions await us before the summer," admitted the prime minister. "So if we want to talk about some proposals in a few weeks at the session in May, we must agree by April 26 - the last day to submit legislative proposals," he said.
