The European Union sent its Slovak representative, Maroš Šefčovič, who also is Vice-president of the European Commission for the Energy Union to the inauguration of Ukraine's new president Volodymyr Zelensky, taking place on Monday. In the country's capital Kiev, Šefčovič will hold bilateral talks with newly elected President Zelensky. "Ukraine may continue to count on the European Union's support with regard to its independence, territorial integrity, and the path of reforms, including the key energy sector," Šefčovič said before his departure.

He will also bilaterally negotiate with the head of the Ukrainian Government, Volodymyr Groysman and director general of the Ukrainian state energy company, Naftogaz, Andriy Kobolyev.
