The Visegrad Four (V4) group (The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) have no common candidate for the post of European Commission chief, Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said after an informal meeting of the V4 premiers in Budapest on Thursday. According to him, the name of incumbent EC Vice-president for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič was mentioned only briefly.
Candidates for the post of the Head of the European Commission are proposed by leaders of EU-member countries, taking into account the results of the European Parliament election. The European Parliament then votes on the leaders' proposals.
