OSCE active in conflict environments

At the annual meeting of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg on Sunday, the Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák, who is also the Chairperson-in-Office of the OSCE this year, stressed the OSCE's active role in a conflict environment. "The OSCE has its own expertise, its own prevention toolbox, its own local knowledge," stated Lajčák, adding that parliamentarians have a crucial role to play, including increasing funding to schools and boosting the participation of women in local governments. Other high-level officials who addressed the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg urged for effective multilateralism and the better alignment of regional organizations in advancing sustainable development. The annual meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly features MPs from 57 countries.
