Interior Minister advocates Police

"Let's give law enforcement bodies some room to do their job," Interior Minister Denisa Saková (Smer-SD) stated in response to Smer-SD chairman Robert Fico's statements on Thursday. She emphasised that Police Corps President Milan Lučanský is the "right person for the job and there are decent people" in the force. Earlier in the day, speaking in response to the leaked chat transcripts of businessman Marián Kočner, who is charged with ordering the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancee on top of falsifying promissory notes and tax fraud, Fico called upon Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini and Interior Minister Denisa Saková (Smer-SD) to act with political responsibility. Fico also urged the Police Corps President Milan Lučanský and Prosecutor-General Jaromír Čižnár to put the law enforcement bodies in order. The former Prime Minister also demands the convening of the parliamentary security committee to ascertain the extent of political pressure under which the law enforcement bodies operate.
