Cuts in red tape, a more efficient exaction of tax arrears, but also new measures related to the use of electronic cash registers are some of the changes introduced as part of the tax bill passed by the Parliament on Tuesday. Changes will also be applied to the exaction of tax arrears, with those failing to meet their obligations running the risk of losing their driving licences. According to the Finance ministry, which proposed the measure, it should have a predominantly preventive character. Once taxpayer debtors settle their obligations, their driving licenses will be restored. This penalty will not be applied to debtors who are professional drivers, for instance, bus or lorry drivers by profession.
