Premier: Final decision is up to London

Slovakia welcomes the revised Brexit agreement and is ready to approve it, Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini (Smer-SD) stated on Thursday after arriving at the two-day EU summit in Brussels. He also pointed out that the final decision is up to London. "The biggest puzzle is likely to be on Saturday when we see how the British Parliament will vote on this agreement. This can again move us somewhere else," said Pellegrini. The Slovak Prime Minister admitted that in connection with Brexit itself he is not expecting a "turbulent" summit, but he is rather expecting more difficult discussions on further EU enlargement, particularly as regards the opening of accession negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania. This process was "frozen" on Tuesday by diplomats at the EU General Affairs Council in Luxembourg, when France in particular stood against this intention."This is a very serious matter and I think that if we send a positive signal to this part of Europe today, it will have more serious consequences than ever before," stressed Slovak Prime Minister.
