Foreign Minister contemplates end of career in politics

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miroslav Lajčák will not run in the next parliamentary elections and does not see himself in any future government. "I will not run. If I'd wanted to be a part of Slovak politics, I would have run for the post of president," Lajčák answered the question about his political future. He added that he would like to continue working in diplomacy. Miroslav Lajčák is currently in his fourth mandate as Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, a position he first held from 2009 to 2010. From 2012 to 2016, he served as Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of Slovakia. He was reappointed as Foreign Minister in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
