Belgian PM wants to overcome contrasts at Bratislava EU Summit

08. 09. 2016 14:30

The goal of the informal September summit of EU leaders in Bratislava is to give a new impulse to the Union, said Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel after meeting the President of the European Council Donald Tusk. "This meeting will be successful if we manage to stay away from the little simplifying logic of contrasts between the old and the new EU member states." He also sees the meeting as a starting point for launching new plans, especially in the field of security and economic growth. The informal summit of 27 EU leaders--for the first time without representation from the UK--will take place in Bratislava on September 16.
