How understanding DNA is helping cancer treatment

One of the things that leads to various cancer diseases is damaged DNA. Although the human body has natural mechanisms to repair DNA when it's damaged, sometimes these mechanisms fail to work correctly in some human cells. Slovak molecular biologist Monika Gullerova, who has established her own laboratory in the heart of Oxford, discusses her pioneering work in developing cancer therapies based on synthesising the natural mechanisms present in human DNA, and delivering them to those cells that need them.
