Slovak researchers developing unusual radiation detectors

For most of us, airport security is the least fun part of travelling. The now common ritual of separating your liquids into small, clear containers and throwing away your water bottle might soon be a thing of the past, however, thanks to a revolutionary new type of terahertz electromagnetic radiation detector. Its tiny antenna could 'sniff out' the types of liquids you're taking on a plane without you having to remove them from your bag. To find out more about this Slovak-made detector and its many future uses, Gavin Shoebridge spoke to Dr Peter Lobotka from the Slovak Academy of Science's Institute of Electrical Engineering.
