Can history lessons prevent extremism?

You know the well-known phrase: "Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it." However, someone might add, with a sad smirk, the following line: yet those who do study history are doomed to stand by helplessly while everyone else repeats it. To avoid this situation happening in Slovakia, the Education Ministry would like to introduce more history lessons to the school curricula. However, not all history teachers think such move is enough.
