Slovak wine makes it to La Cité du Vin

The Slovak Agriculture ministry has signed a memorandum on cooperation with the La Cité du Vin, the museum of wine in Bordeaux, France. On 30th November, the Agriculture Minister Gabriela Matečná, brought more than 300 bottles from 14 Slovak wineries to be introduced into the prestigious gallery.

"The fact we are in the world wine museum in Bordeaux is definitely a big thing for Slovakia, because where else if not in France should one present wines? The signature of a contract between Slovakia and the museum is a great advertisement for the country," said the Agriculture Minister at the event. While in Bordeaux, the Slovak delegation also presented Slovakia's wine-growing regions as well as the popular wine routes, such as the Small Carpathian route near Bratislava.

"We wanted to show the widest variety of Slovak wines and wineries, be it large companies as well as small family businesses," explained Edita Ďurčová, the Slovak wine ambassador. The presence at La Cité du Vin also has a business potential, as the visitors to the museum can try out different wines and if they like them, they can then reach out to the producers. According to Slovak wine producers, it also sends a positive signal to consumers in Slovakia - a signal that Slovak wines are recognised on a worldwide level.
