Police release sketch of potential witness in Ján Kuciak murder

The Special Prosecutor's Office released a police sketch of a man who could have information on the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his fiancée Martina Kušnírová in late February. "This person could have moved around the murder site at that time, but we are not saying he was definitely there," said the prosecutor who's supervising the investigation of the murder. He added that they would be glad if the person came forward by himself. He confirmed that the couple were shot and killed at their home at about 8:20 pm on February 21st by a contracted hitman and they are investigating whether someone helped the perpetrator. The investigators are currently focusing on two lines of inquiry linked in Kuciak's journalistic work, which might be related to his murder. "Of course, we won't be more specific, as if we released more details, it would only help the perpetrators to escape punishment," said the prosecutor.

The prosecutor further reported that all information and evidence has also been presented to an international investigation team. "We have not accused anyone, we have no specific offenders. If we should have them, we would charge them, but we are yet not at that stage," the prosecutor said. During the investigation so far, they examined the crime scene five times. Police detained seven suspects, but due to a lack of evidence they had to be released. All seven were Italians. Investigators have questioned more than 200 people during their investigation so far.
