“Place is very significant for my work”

Can you imagine spending warm summer evenings without a good book? One of the bestselling books this summer in Slovakia is the Slovak translation of the novel the Glass Room by the British writer Simon Mawer. In September 2009 The Glass Room was one of six novels shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. It was named a best book of 2009 by The Economist, The Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, London Evening Standard as well as The Observer. Even though the story is fictional, it is set in a real and quite distinguishable place. Vila Tugendhat in the Moravian city of Brno.
