Slovak feature film at 70th Berlinale

The Slovak film Servants will be premiered at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival as part of the new competition section Encounters. The new section is expected to enrich the official programme with films of diverse narrative and documentary forms. The only feature-length Slovak entry depicts the story of two priests in totalitarian Czechoslovakia. "The communist regime was seizing human character by creepy manipulation and the promise of a convenient life," said Ivan Ostrochovsky in a press release, a director whose two films were premiered in Berlin in 2013 and 2015. A three-member jury will choose the winners for Best Film, Best Director and a Special Jury Award, also in the Encounters category.
