As of 29th November, the Week of Slovak film event is going to be held online. Presenting feature, documentary and short films, it aims to show local production released in the year 2020. It is possible to see online with English subtitles documentaries such as Milan Sladek portraying the Slovak mime highly appreciated abroad, the documentary Meky about the recently deceased pop-music icon, or the documentary The Golden land showing eastern Slovak villages rich in crude oil fighting American investors. The list of films with English subtitles also includes feature films such as Servants which have won awards at international festivals.
If you are interested in Slovak films, it is possible to see them subtitled at the 2021 Slovak Film Harvest-Online in the USA and Canada only. It started on 22nd November and will last until 19th December. The programme includes titles which represented Slovak film at prestigious foreign and domestic festivals.
In 2018, the first edition of the Slovak Film Harvest festival was held in New York and Washington DC. The film Dubcek was screened at the festival in 2019.
