‘Next’ is the title of a festival presenting the latest developments in contemporary music. Until Sunday, October 2nd, it is possible to hear performers and experts from Iceland, China, the UK, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Czechia and Ukraine among others. DJ-sets, performances and workshops focused on the latest trends in advanced music subgenres are being held in Bratislava.
Bratislava v pohybe is a Contemporary Dance Festival also held in the Slovak capital. International companies as well as solo dance performers will be here starting on Tuesday, 4th October.
Novotvar The capital will also host an international literature festival featuring also the highly praised British author of Duth origin Michel Faber, Austrian writer Marie Gamillscheg, Ukrainian poet Olena Husejnova and Hungarian author Istvan Kemeny. Slovak participants include national competition awardees Balla, Barbora Hrinova and Alexandra Salmela, among others.
The Bratislava music festival continues to present top Slovak and international interpreters of classical music. It is possible to see the Czech Philharmonic live on Friday, the Mucha Quartet on Saturday 1st October, the Orchestra Di Santa Cecilia conducted by world renowned Slovak born conductor Juraj Valcuha also on Saturday, the internationally acclaimed yet very Slovak Janoska ensemble on Wednesday, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on Friday 7th October. The whole festival closes on Saturday 8th October with Slovak Philharmonic.
And, although the name of the international festival of animated film is Biennale of Animation Bratislava, it will be present in several Slovak towns all across the country such as Trnava, Hlohovec, Piešťany, Nitra, Martin, Banská Štiavnica, Poprad, Prešov and Košice. Starting on Monday 3rd October it will present films for children as well as for adults, not only in cinemas but also online and via the public broadcaster RTVS. A lot of discussions, workshops, lectures and exhibitions included.
